Marcas Mac an Tuairneir is a critically-acclaimed and award-winning writer, working through Scottish Gaelic, English, and Polari. He has published three collections of poetry – ‘Deò’, Gracenote, 2013; ‘Lus na Tùise’, Bradan Press, 2016; ‘Dùileach’, Evertype. 2021 – and the co-authored pamphlet ‘beul-fo-bhonn’ (Tapsalteerie, 2017). Marcas is one of Gaelic Scotland’s most exciting singer-songwriters, having won the award for the best new Gaelic song at the Royal National Mòd in 2018 and the Virtual Mòd in 2020. He has written songs with some of Gaeldom’s favourite musicians including Rachel Walker, Mary Ann kennedy, Ainsley Hammill and Pàdruig Morrison. But Marcas is known throughout Scotland as the King of Gaelic Pop, with three singles given a commercial release – ‘Fiched ‘s a h-Ochd’, ‘Bruidhinn’, and ‘Nochd’. His forthcoming début album is hotly anticipated.
