Sean Wai Keung is based in Glasgow, Scotland. His work often uses food as a starting point for explorations of identity and migration. His pamphlet ‘you are mistaken’ won the Rialto Open Pamphlet Competition 2016 and he has also released short-length work with Speculative Books. His first full length poetry collection, ‘sikfan glaschu’, was published by Verve Poetry Press in April 2021, and was described as “joyful, earnest and offering unexpected poignancies from everyday life” by The Scotsman. His work has been published in journals including Ambit, SpamZine and Vittles, and he is a poetry editor at EX/POST online.

Artist Talk: Sean Wai Keung's The Poetry Food Exchange
15:00 - 15:30The Poetry Food Exchange is an installation which simultaneously challenges perceptions of transaction in both food and literature and encourages collaborative sharing. Sean Wai Keung, a Glasgow-based poetry, performance and food-maker, is in charge of the Exchange. Patrons will write down a memory or experience to do with food, and in return they will receive a fortune cookie with a line of poetry inside as well as a cup of warm broth. After this face-to-face interaction, these memories and experiences will then be strung around the venue, forming a 3-dimensional poem with which audiences can interact as much or as little as they like.
